Travel is an inevitable part of many of our lives. As the world gets smaller, we are seeing more and more people traveling, but with increasing amounts of time restrictions and many of us are now “busy travelers.” In fact, according to Statista, an estimated 4.3 million passengers flew in 2018. As travelers, we are getting busier, and travel has become second nature to us.
That said, there are still some challenges that travelers face which do not seem to go away, no matter how much you travel – whether it is finding the time to get everything sorted before you go or overcoming that nervousness about flying.
Making travel as easy and stress-free as possible is important, so here are some tips for those who want to travel with ease.
1. Busy Travelers Should Build in Delays
There’s nothing more infuriating and stress-inducing than being delayed. You spend the whole time thinking about where you could be and what you could be doing, getting more and more frustrated. Travel can sometimes be laden with delays of some sort, so by being prepared, you can help to lower stress levels.
Build the possibility of delays into your timetable and take plenty of things to do to occupy your time if it does happen. This way, getting there on time will be a bonus and you won’t feel like you have wasted time if you happen to encounter a delay. You can take the opportunity to relax and enjoy having some spare time to yourself or with those that you love.
Save any numbers for hotels, transportation, or anyone coming to meet you at your destination in your phone so that you can keep them updated easily and take that extra pressure off of you.
2. Busy Travelers Shouldn’t Stress About Forgetting things
There are actually very few things that we need when we are going away for a few days. Of course, medication and passports are essential but other than that it is a good idea to remember that you most likely can buy whatever you need once arriving at your destination. So, if you’ve forgotten your toothbrush it’s not the end of the world.
As long as you have your essential items, everything else can be replaced or not needed for a few days.
Traveling light is preferred– firstly, you won’t be carrying around any extra weight. This can be annoying and tiring, and, frankly, pointless. Secondly, you’ll be able to find things more readily. Thirdly, we know you are going to shop while in your destination so save some room for those new goodies!
If you are a frequent traveler, keep a permanent packing list that you can use every time you travel to save time, PLUS you’ll feel reassured knowing you didn’t leave anything off the list.
3. Busy Travelers Should Try CBD Oil for Anxiety
It’s not uncommon to get a bit nervous before flying, and this can make travel stressful and un-enjoyable for many people. One way that you can help to reduce your anxiety is through the use of CBD.
CBD – or cannabidiol – is one of the compounds found in the cannabis plant and is being hailed as a bit of a wonder drug. Amongst many other health benefits, CBD can help to give you a sense of calm and reduce anxiety, without making you high – the perfect thing for dealing with pre-flight nervousness.
CBD can be taken in droplet form, a pill, lotion, by vaping through an e-pen or by eating an edible. There are different laws around the world about traveling with cannabis-derived products (even if they lack THC) so it is recommended that you don’t take your CBD products with you. The TSA, for example, prohibits taking CBD with you on any flights.
For most people, munching on a CBD edible or taking a soothing CBD tea before you check-in would be the best way to get your CBD before you go – without having any problems on your flight.
4. Busy Travelers Should Avoid Stimulants
If you’re already feeling a bit anxious, the worst thing that you can do is start drinking coffee or energy drinks. These can make you feel even more jittery, and although you might think that a nice coffee will help, it is more likely to have the opposite effect.
Try to stick to low sugar, low caffeine soft drinks, herbal tea or water to keep stress down and your body feeling good.
5. Busy Travelers Should Get a Healthy Run Up
Try to be as healthy as you can in the time leading up to your trip. Getting lots of exercise and eating healthy will make it easier to relax and make your trip more comfortable.
Make sure that you drink enough liquids (especially water), get enough sleep, and try taking CBD food supplements to give your health and well-being a lift – as well as being able to help you to sleep.
Regardless of whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, the flight to and from your destination can be an added unnecessary stress. There are two ways of dealing with these stresses – firstly by preparing so much that you reduce the potential for things to happen that will make you anxious, and secondly by dealing with any stress that comes along the way.
If you are thinking about trying CBD oil, you should check the local laws and regulations, and talk to your doctor before trying it, especially if you are already taking other medication. CBD oil is a safe and effective way to take the edge off your anxiety, helping you to take everything in stride – allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy your trip!
