Calling all dessert lovers! As you may or may not know, New York has some of the best dessert spots in the country. Below, we have compiled a list of some of our favorites, so that next time you hit the Big Apple, you know where to satisfy all your sugar cravings.

1. Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beer

Black Tap’s milkshakes are famous, and for good reason. Once you get past the sheer size of them you’ll notice that the ice cream is blended with cakes, cookies, and other sweets and THEN piled high atop a bed of whipped cream. Many of the milkshake’s cups are often coated in frosting and candy as if the cakes and cookies weren’t enough! If sweets aren’t your thing, not to worry, Black Tap is also famous for their burgers and fries. You’ll be sure to get your sweet and savory fix at this Midtown favorite. Trust us, these milkshakes are definitely worth the weight… pun intended!

2. Levain’s bakery

Levain’s Bakery is considered by most to have the best cookies in NYC  It is at the top of most lists of best dessert spots in NYC. Located in Central Park, Levain’s cookies are big, gooey and have a perfect consistency. They’re most famous for their chocolate walnut, but you can’t go wrong with any of their cookie flavors. So head over and grab a cookie, or maybe even two, we won’t tell anyone! 

3. Ben’s Cookies

The famous Ben’s Cookies from London have also found a home in NYC, and everyone is going wild for them. And we are not surprised; after all it is one the best dessert sports in NYC.  Besides that, Ben’s is known for baking their cookies with “chunks not chips,” which gives it the perfect ratio of chocolate to cookie. They have the standard chocolate chip, peanut butter chocolate chip, white chocolate chip, and dark chocolate chip, which are absolutely delicious but don’t be afraid to stray from the norm and try one of their more exotic flavors. Make sure to get there early, as the cookies tend to sell fast. If for some odd reason you are not a cookie lover, you can also enjoy a gelato sundae or milkshake, or combine the cookies and ice cream into our personal favorite: the ice cream sandwich. Excuse us as we wipe the drool from our face. 

4. Amorino’s

Amorino’s is the best dessert spot to indulge your gelato cravings. Along with their many flavors of gelato and sorbets, they also sell macarons. You can get it in a cup, have it swirled into a shake, or have the dessert arranged on a cone in the shape of a flower. Furthermore, if you go for Amorino’s signature flower, be sure to ask for a macaroon in the middle, sayyyy whatttttt?!?

5. Empire Cake

Empire Cake serves cakes and cupcakes in a variety of different flavors. Their chocolate and red velvet cupcakes are to die for, as their frosting is supreme! Additionally they are most well known for their homemade twinkies, which they make using their cakes and covering them in frosting and filling them with cream. There really is something for everyone at this NYC original bakery.

6. Sprinkles

Sprinkles, which I am sure many of you have heard of, were made famous for their cupcakes. No matter what kind you indulge in, you can definitely expect the same great taste with each and every bite. Besides that factor, the icing is mouth-wateringly delicious, and many feature a surprise cream filling. If your craving cupcakes, this is the place to go. Even better yet, they now feature vegan options.

7. Baked by Melissa

If you are like some of us and watching your figure you may opt for a smaller treat. Baked by Melissa specializes in miniature cupcakes. Additionally, they come in an array of flavors, including cookie dough, red velvet, birthday cake, and also seasonal flavors. We like to tell ourselves when they are bite-sized, the calories don’t count… who’s with us?!

8. DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections

With its newer location right by Washington Square Park, DŌ has generated so much buzz and popularity that the lines sometimes wrap around the street! Everyone wants a taste of this cookie dough heaven. DŌ specializes in edible and safe to eat cookie dough that you can eat like ice cream. For example, go bold and try one of their exciting flavors like Chocolate Dream or Heavenly. Another reason to go for the classics is that they will appeal to your nostalgic side. As you reminiscence about eating cookie dough and brownie batter off the spoon, with Signature Chocolate Chip and Brookie Dough. Additionally, you can pile the cookie dough high on a flavored cone, have it spun into a milkshake, indulge in a cookie dough ice cream sandwich, or even try a cookie dough brownie or cupcake. Or, maybe you just want to enjoy a cup of your favorite cookie dough flavor. Besides that, with all of the options, no wonder people can’t seem to get enough of this trendy new dessert spot. It is certainly one the best dessert spots to try in the city!

9. Mike and Dave’s

Located right on Macdougal St, Mike and Dave’s is the perfect option if you want a healthy dessert, as their “ice cream” is non-dairy and vegan. However, it still comes with the same delicious taste. Who said cravings were bad for you??

10. 16 Handles

Many consider 16 Handles the best Frozen Yogurt spot in NYC. Additionally, between the many delicious flavors of froyo and toppings, you are sure to walk away satisfied. Even more, the atmosphere is very bright and upbeat, putting you in a great mood to sit and enjoy your froyo with friends.

11. Creperie

Located right on the famous Macdougal St. by Washington Square Park, Creperie is the the best dessert spot for whenever you are craving this decadent French treat. They have sweet and savory options, but most people rave about their crepes filled with Nutella, bananas, and whipped cream. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!

12. Stuffed Ice Cream

Finally, this NYC original sells stuffed ice cream cake. The ice cream cake is covered in frosting, rolled into a giant ball, and THEN stuffed with even more ice cream! Who said ice cream cake was a thing of our childhood?!
